Despite failing to make in roads at this year’s Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) Male Basketball competition, University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) are in pole position in the GSP Basketball League.
The defending champions of the Global Sporting Projects (GSP) League are set to return to action in the club competition next month.
UENR leads the league after the conclusion of this season’s first half in December last year and is in line to capture back to back titles for the first time in the league’s history.
The second half of the campaign is due to commence on February 17 at the Eusbett Court in Sunyani with a tie against Barracks Scorpions.
However, UENR will have to improve on the form its showed at the GUSA Games which University of Ghana, University of Cape-Coast and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology win gold, silver and bronze respectively.
One of the highlight moments of UENR’s time at the tournament was a 38-35 win over 2016 silver medalist University of Professional Studies.
