With the conclusion of Sprite Ball and the Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Championship set for February, the Ghana basketball season is up and running.

Club competitions on the local scene though return with games in the Global Sporting Platform (GSP) League second half due for tip off in February.

Basketballghana.com gathers competition in the Accra Basketball League (ABL) will commence in March after a long absence.

However, reports trickling indicate the Tema Basketball League is in line to start right about the same time in March.

With both leagues operating in Ghana’s capital region Accra, the possible clash of start dates is real and could split the fan base.

Both leagues are targeting an opening tip off in the third month this year with the competition in Tema set to be the first since Ashaiman Lions lifted its preseason competition in December last year.

Braves of Customs and Tema Community 4 are defending champions in Accra and Tema respectively and have the chance to defend their titles right about the same time.
