Despite clinching this year’s competition courtesy a 30-29 win over Accra Wesley Girls High School in overtime, the school’s court is far less worthy of Ghana’s High School female champions.
The make shift playing surface is bare and littered with rock pebbles and at the mercy of easily wiping up dust in dry conditions the West African country is facing.
Physical Education Department Head Joyce Adjei stated the team had little choice aside working with the deplorable infrastructure.
“We don’t have a standard basketball court. This is a kind of an improvised court because we want to achieve something, we had to try and put this up to enable the girls have some practice” she said.
The poor nature of the court has not deterred Kumasi Girls from making a steady climb up the girls division as the 2018 trophy was won after the school placed fourth and second in prior editions.
