16 qualified countries will know the groups they will be placed in a few hours as the draw for this year’s FIBA Women’s World Cup takes place.

The event will determine how countries are placed in Groups A, B, C and D for the four year competition last held in Turkey in 2014.

Africa is represented in the draw by Senegal and Nigeria after playing in the final game of the last Women’s African Nations Championship (AfroBasket).

Nigeria topped Senegal record winners and fellow West African side Senegal to win the title; both teams sealed their World Cup place by making the African final.

This year’s competition will be played from September 22-30 in Spain with defending Champions United States of America headlining the competition.

Spain, Australia and Turkey placed second, third and fourth at the 2014 edition and Host Spain are expected to go a step further this time around in front of home fans.

China and Argentina have qualified and represent Asia and South America respectively in the draw.
