Ghana Police lost its maiden game in the Battle Ground Tournament over the weekend; the competition has been put together by the Tema Basketball League as a tune up for the 2018 league season.

Police lost 38-50 to Tema Community 2 at Tema’s Community 4 Court in the opening round of the competition which is set to end on March 11.

Police played the game without its starting backcourt unit of Benjamin Debrah and Emmanuel Dickson who missed the game for varied reasons.

Basketballghna.com understands Debrah couldn’t play due to injuries he sustained in a minor accident away from the team.

Both men are key to Police’ play and were instrumental in leading Police back to the Accra Basketball League Men’s Division I.

Their availability in the remaining games in the competition is yet to be known; Police is in Group A in the eight team roster.

The team plays Teshie Rangers and Ashaiman Lions in the final games at the preliminary stage. Lions and Community 2 lead Group A standings.
