Takoradi Technical University (TTU) is set to compete in this year’s Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship.

The team will compete in Zone 2 against Ghana Technology University College (GTUC-Takoradi), Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA-Takoradi) and University of Mines and Technology (UMAT).

The zonal games will be played at TTU’s Main Court on Friday March 9 in Takoradi with just a spot in the next stage of the competition up for grabs.

Only zonal winners make it to the quarterfinal stage due to be held in Accra in April but TTU missed out on a quarterfinal spot in 2017.

That miss the team’s first since it began competing at the UPAC Tournament in 2011 placing fourth at the 2016 edition.

University of Cape-Coast (UCC) clinched the enviable spot ahead of TTU but the latter has been moved to the new Zone 2 which has an all Western Region look.

With home court advantage, the team is widely expected to make a quick return to the elite division.
