Sunyani Technical University (STU) Basketball Coach Andrew Quansah has denied his former team University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) a place in the 2018 UPAC National Competition.

Quansah led STU to inflict an 8-23 loss on UENR to place first in Zone 4 and secure a spot in the Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship quarterfinals.

The soft spoken young tactician switched from UENR to direct rival STU a few weeks before the zonal competition tipped off.

In his short time with the team, STU has closed the gap on UENR reflective in a couple of two point losses to the latter in the Global Sporting Platform League in Sunyani.

His immense work was reflected in sending STU to the UPAC quarterfinals for the first time since the maiden edition in 2011.

Under Quansah’s guidance, UENR made two straight appearances in the quarters and finished fourth overall in 2017.

This year’s national competition takes place in Accra from April 12-14.
