Defending Tema Basketball League Champions, Tema Community 4 have clinched a big win in the opening round of the 2018 league season.
The new campaign has commenced and is expected to run to September 16 with ten teams competing for the league crown.
Community 4 clinched a 64-46 win over Akasti Rifles; the win is the second straight victory for C4 over Rifles after the latter fell in a friendly game organized a week earlier.
Despite heading to the new season with a few headaches regarding performance, the team’s 18 point win shows its intent to defend the league title.
C4 did not compete in the first of two preseason competitions and placed third in the Battle Ground Tournament right before the start of the league.
2017 Finalist Ashaiman Lions who placed second at Battle Grounds, followed suit by securing a win over Tema Community 2.
Community 2 lost 67-69 to Lions right after Francophone Stars beat Teshie Vikings 58-45 in the opening game which featured the two new entrants.
Tema Heat beat Teshie Rangers 51-47 in another close encounter.
