The University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) Male Basketball Team’s season can be described as disappointing after failing to build on a wonderful 2017 campaign.

UENR won the GSP Basketball League and placed fourth at the 2017 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship.

However, the just ended campaign has been far from impressive for UENR who lost the 2018 league title on the final day after losing 39-40 to Desert Rabbits.

The final game of the season played at the Eusbett Court in Sunyani saw the tertiary institution team needing a win to clinch the title.

Losing to Rabbits and Suncity Braves beating LIR Royals ensured Braves walked away with the league title ending UENR’s hopes of clinching back to back titles.

The disappointment adds to those suffered after failing to qualify to the UPAC Championship national competition. Sunyani Technical University beat them in the zonal decider 23-8.

UENR did not impress at the Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) Games either as the team finished well outside a podium finish.
