Ghana Police has just wrapped up winning its fourth straight game in the 2018 Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division I season.
The team beat a determined Tudu Magic side at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu in the last of two games played tonight; Reformers of Prisons beat Ghana Fire Service 69-66.
Police took an 8-4 lead with three point shots from Benjamin Debrah and Emmanuel Dickson. Abdul Sulley tied score at 10 with a layup to end the first quarter after Magic missed several shots.
Debrah scored eight points including an acrobatic layup for Police to extend the team’s lead to 22-14 with 3:49 remaining in second quarter. Sulley and Magic Guard Ibrahim Mohammed got points for Magic as the first half ended 24-19 for Police.
Both teams missed shots early in the third quarter before Steven Foster completed a three point play for Magic. Debrah responded by draining a tough contested layup. Shadrack Kotey then scored four points to tie score at 28 with four minutes left. Forster tied score at 30 by scoring an easy layup but Police restored its lead late in the quarter.
Police held a 32-30 lead heading to the final quarter and Mohammed got Magic off to a good start by draining a jumper with 3:34 played to pull his side within a point of Police’s lead-32-33. Zakari Alhassan of Police scored two but couldn’t complete three point play after missing the ensuing free throw.
Kotey then scored four points to give Magic a 36-35 lead but Elvis Pobi Siaw scored his first three point shot in the game to give Police a 38-36 lead with 3:50 left in final quarter. Magic’s Forster tied score at 40 with layup before Police scored points down the stretch from the free throw line to clinch the 46-40 win.
