Serbia beat Netherlands 16-13 in the finals while Italy ended Russia’s reign as Champions with a 16-12 win in the women’s final game.
Winning gold in the Men’s Division is Serbia’s third straight title while Italy earned its first gold medal in the tournament’s female division. Serbia has won four of five World Cup trophies since the maiden edition in 2012 in Greece capital Athens.
Italy scored three of four wins in the preliminary stage before ousting USA and China in the quarterfinal and semifinal respectively.
Serbia on the other hand, cruised through a flawless campaign picking four wins at the preliminary stage and knockout stage wins over Mongolia and Poland.
Slovenia won bronze in the men’s division while France beat China in the women’s Division; Slovenia won last year’s EuroBasket.
African Champions Nigeria and Uganda missed out on medals in this year’s competition.
