Kumasi Girls Senior High School (KGEE) has been named the Best School in the Sports category at the recently held High School Excellence Awards in Kumasi.

This year’s edition of the annual event had top caliber representatives from various educational institutions in the region present.

KGEE walked out of the event with the biggest sports prize after dominating the region’s sports calendar in the year under review.

Physical Education Head Joyce Agyei was named the Best PE Tutor of the Year at the event held at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Hall.

KGEE beat 115 selected schools to the prominent title after winning several medals at the Region’s Inter Colleges and Super Zonal Sports competitions.

The school’s basketball team won the zonal, regional and national competitions- Sprite Ball Championship to underline its dominance.

Kumasi Girls also won national gold in Hockey and regional titles in Badminton and Netball. Winning the Sprite Ball Championship this year was an improvement on the team’s performance at the last edition where it placed second.
