Adenta Leopards beat Navy Warriors 40-35 to win the Male Division of CAP 7 Memorial Basketball Tournament maiden edition earlier tonight at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu.

The competition put together to honour former Accra Basketball League (ABL) Chairman Benjamin Baafi commenced on September 14 and was littered with several top quality performances.

However, Leopards emerged on top of the pile breezing through the previous stages before putting away an impressive Warriors side tonight.

Leopards was awarded the trophy at stake and 1000 Ghana Cedis with Warriors earning 700 Cedis and bronze medal winners Tema Youth taking home 500 Ghana Cedis. Tema beat Adabraka CYO 38-24 in the third place game.

Suleiman Abubakar and Kontor Appiah scored to give Adenta a 4 -1 lead but a Hail Mary three point shot from Warriors Forward Mando and a power move from Eric Adoku had Warriors recover to score an 8-4 first quarter lead.

Appiah scored two three point shots, Abubakar completed a three point play and Godwin Tetteh added a layup to restore Leopards lead with a 15-8 score.

Warriors Shooting Guard Kojo Ofori scored four straight points to end the run and added a three point shot in a strong second quarter display but Leopards held on for a 20-17 lead.

Thomas Amedeku of Adenta and Ofori traded three point shots to open the third quarter. Amedeku added another shot from deep to give Leopards a 29-24 lead.

Warriors opened the final quarter on an eight point run with Muhaimin Guba and Appiah scoring. Leopards win 40-35 to lift the trophy.
