The African Champions go up against the defending World Champions later today in this year’s World Cup taking place in Tenerife, Spain.
Nigeria became the first African nation to seal a spot in the quarterfinals after recording a 57-56 win over Greece on Wednesday.
The win was Nigeria’s third straight win in the competition following wins over Turkey and Argentina in Group B.
Nigeria beat Turkey 74-68 to record its first ever win at the World Cup; the nation participated in the 2006 Tournament but recorded no wins.
The game is the first of four fixtures scheduled for today as the competition winds down to a close; the final round of games will b played on Sunday September 22.
The African Champions face a tall order to get past the free scoring USA who have WNBA MVP and winner Breanna Stewart leading the way.
