The 2018 Avenor Tutudoza Basketball Tournament commences today at the Akatsi Court in Ghana’s Volta Region as part of an elaborate list of activities to mark the festival.
The tournament is a one day competition featuring ten teams drawn from areas with the Volta region and Greater Accra region.
Akatsi Rifles is the host team of today’s tournament after competing in the Tema Community Basketball League 2018 season. Rifles made it to the playoffs before exiting in the first round.
2017 Tema League Champions Tema Community 4 heads the list of invited teams including veteran sides of Adabraka CYO and Tema Shepherds.
Swanlakers of Kaneshie, Flames of Aflao and a special select side from Ho and Keta are competing in the tournament. Ho plays Ada in the opening game.
A three point contest involving players from participating teams will take place prior to the semifinals and final games.
Today’s competition comes off exactly a week prior to the Avenor Tutudoza Festival’s grand durbar on Saturday, November 24.
