The quarterfinals of this year’s FIBA African Women’s Champions Cup takes place later today in Maputo, Mozambique as the knockout phase begins.

Top guns Interclube from Angola-record winners of the competition- and First Bank from Nigeria went unbeaten in the group stage and are expected to go deep in the tournament.

However, the most eye catching matchup today involves two Democratic Republic of Congo teams AS Vita Club and I.N.S.S.

The pair managed to qualify to the quarters after Vita placed third in Group A behind Interclube and home side Ferroviario Maputo with five points in four games.

I.N.S.S. on the other hand, fared better behind First Bank in Group B as the side finished with seven points from winning three of four games.

Vita came alive in the competition in its final game when it clinched a 70-42 win over Cameroon’s FAP Basketball and hopes to carry the momentum to get past rival I.N.S.S.

Ferroviario plays Kenya Port Authority, Interclube takes on MB2ALL from Madagascar while First Bak plays FAP in the other quarterfinal games.
