spriteThe Draw to determine groups in this year’s Sprite Ball Championship is scheduled to take place on Thursday, January 3 Basketballghana.com can confirm.

The draw will be held during the live broadcast of basketball program “Courtside” which airs on Ghana channel Kwese Free Sports.

The 2019 Sprite Ball runs from January 11-12 at the El Wak Stadium in Accra with 20 schools competing for titles in Ghana’s biggest high school basketball tournament.

12 schools have qualified to compete in the Boys Division while eight schools have qualified to play in the Girls Division.

The number of participating schools has reduced from 26 witnessed in the last edition held in January, 2018 to 20 to improve competition in the respective divisions.

Reigning Champions Presbyterian Senior High School (PRESEC-Osu) headlines the Boys Division with record winners Mfantsipim School and two time Bronze Medal winners Pope John Senior High School and Junior Seminary featuring prominently.

Kumasi Girls Senior High School is the top draw in the Girls Division which is bereft of big names including Wesley Girls High School, Aggrey Memorial Zion and T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School.

Sprite Ball is sponsored by Sprite and organized by leading sports firm Rite Sports Limited.

  1. The competition is very good but schools that did not have the field to practices in the games is also left behind. We recommend that schools with no playing ground and equipment should be equip with the necessary equipment to involve all schools in the competition, Almost all the schools have talented students in al the disciplines.Tema Manhean Senior High needs basketball court because we have the skilful players who can play basketball but we lack the court
