Boys Division Basketball Champions (GCHIS)
AIS v SOS (in white) in Girls Division Basketball Final

Ghana Christian High International School (GCHIS) Male Basketball Team has won this year’s International Schools Association Games (ISSAG) Basketball and Field Hockey Tournament.

GCHIS topped Morgan International School 18-15 in an entertaining game in the Boys Division to win back to back titles in the tournament.

The Charles Adjei-Fodjour led team made a successful comeback after falling 0-6 in the opening minutes of the game played at Ghana International School (GIS) earlier today.

GCHIS’ strong recovery got the side trailing by three (6-9) at the end of the first half. GCHIS carried the momentum to the second half and blitzed Morgan early to establish a 14-10 lead.

Morgan went on a scoring run to tie the game at 14 before GCHIS made a couple of shots late in the game to pull away for the win. GCHIS beat SOS Herman Gmeiner 14-10 in the semifinals.

In the Girls Division, 2018 winners Akosombo International School missed the chance to replicate GCHIS’ success as the former lost 0-3 to SOS in the final game.

The competitive game was characterized by a lot of missed shots from both teams. Despite missing out on the top spots in basketball, host GIS placed first and third in Field Hockey’s Girls and Boys Divisions respectively.
