Country Manager of betting firm BetWay in Ghana Rex Danquah Jnr. has described the BetWay Hoops Tournament as the company’s “Baby”.

He made this statement in an exclusive chat with Basketballghana.com and made the stand out description of the community based basketball competition.

The second edition of the tournament ended over this past weekend at the Tema Community 4 Court that had Nungua Coldstore retain the title.

Coldstore beat Oil City Dragons in the 2018 Final in Takoradi and won its second straight final game by beating Tema Community 2 27-25.

Responding to a question regarding the firm’s reason for headlining the competition, the Country Manager dismissed the description rather stating:

“We are not headliners of this competition. This competition is our baby” and opined there is a strong willingness to grow the competition.

Eight teams competed in the tournament this past Saturday and all competing teams featured in last year’s Tema Basketball League’s playoffs. The 2019 BetWay Hoops Tournament also served as the preseason competition for the league.

Nungua doubles as the defending Tema League Champions.
