The draw for the 2019 FIBA World Cup is set to be staged in Shenzhen, China on Saturday, March 16 with a host of top personalities in line to participate in the anticipated event.

This year’s World Cup will commence in September with the final game slated for September 15 and the draw is the high point of a three day basketball festival.

World Cup Ambassadors Kobe Bryant and Yao Ming headline the list of personalities set to grace the occasion alongside FIBA President Horacio Muratore and former NBA player and Chinese Basketball Association star Guard Stephon Marbury.

For the first time in the history of the competition, 32 nations will compete with the roster increasing from 24 witnessed in previous years.

As a result, Africa’s representatives in the competition have increased from three to five with reigning continental champions Tunisia leading the list of qualified nations.

Angola, Nigeria, Senegal and Ivory Coast have qualified to play in China. The USA are defending champions. American singer Jason Derulo will perform at the event.
