For the second year in a row, Regent University College of Science and Technology will face off against KAAF University College in the Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship qualifiers.

The institutions are drawn in Zone 3 and due to play on Saturday, March 16 at Regent University College; Marshalls University College and Accra Institute of Technology will compete in the zone.

In last year’s edition of Ghana’s biggest tertiary basketball competition, Regent beat KAAF 35-25 at the University of Education-Winneba (UEW) in the 2018 Championship.

However, neither institution progressed from the zone to the quarterfinals after losing to UEW; the 2018 zonal host eventually placed third at the national level.

Last year’s competition was Regent’s maiden participation in the UPAC Championship; the team replaced University of Cape-Coast (UCC).

Like 2018, KAAF and Regent face a team with a rich and extensive history in the competition in Marshalls University College. Marshalls placed second in the 2017 edition.

The 2019 UPAC Championship is sponsored by CAL Bank and MTN.
