The winning institution in Zone 3 of this year’s Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship is set to be determined on Saturday, March 16 at the Regent University College of Science and Technology.
Regent, Marshalls University College, KAAF University College and Accra Institute of Technology will battle for the sole qualification spot to the quarterfinals.
Heading to the third of eight zonal competition marking the preliminary stage in the 2019 edition of Ghana’s biggest tertiary basketball tournament, Basketballghana.com takes a look at a number of first time ever situations in the zone.
For the first time in the history of UPAC, Regent University College will host games. The Accra based institution made its appearance in the Championship last year and its court-built in October 2018-is the host venue tomorrow.
Should any team but Marshalls University competing in Zone 3 progress to the quarterfinals, it is in line to be the first time for the institutions.
Since the 2019 UPAC Zonal competition commenced on March 2, no Technical University will compete in a zone for the first time. This also ends a streak of Technical Universities win in the zones cleared thus far. Koforidua Technical University and Takoradi Technical University topped Zones 1 and 2 respectively.
