2019 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship Zone 3 Host Regent University College of Science and Technology has blown a big chance to qualify to the quarterfinals of this year’s Championship.
Regent led 12-4 at the end of the first quarter against Marshalls University College but ended up losing 28-34 to the 2017 Silver Medalist.
Regent is hosting the zonal competition in Ghana’s biggest tertiary basketball tournament for the first time ever but failed to deliver a win.
The Host institution faltered in the second half committing a host of turnovers and missing shots to culminate a frustrating end to the game.
The matchup was exciting and a perfect tone setter for the remaining games in the zone that has KAAF University College competing.
Beating Regent puts Marshalls in a good position to top the zone and progress to the quarterfinals in this year’s Championship. A win against KAAF University would be enough to get them to the next stage.
Regent needs KAAF to beat Marshalls to stand a chance of progressing.
