Ghanaian duo miss out on American Conference Titles

Aflakpui in action against Wichita
Nathan Mensah
Ghana Forwards Ernest Aflakpui and Nathan Mensah were on the receiving end of game losses in College Basketball postseason.

Aflakpui led Temple University with 16 points and 19 rebounds in a 74-80 loss to Wichita State in the quarterfinals of the American Athletic Conference.

The 6 foot 10 inch Forward was the only Temple player to register double digits in rebounds and points. Aflakpui is in his final season with the Owls.

Mensah played 16 minutes as a starter for San Diego State University and registered four points, seven rebounds and two assists for the Aztecs.

However, San Diego lost 57-64 to Utah State University in the final game of the Mountain West Conference earlier this morning.

A win for San Diego in the final game would have qualified the Aztecs to the National Tournament to be held later this month. Ghana’s Joel Mensah did not play in the final for San Diego.

Despite the losses, Aflakpui and Mensah could end up playing in the National Tournament should Temple and San Diego earn invitations to the competition.
