Strong Second Half Performances power Marshalls to UPAC Quarterfinals

Marshalls (Black) v Regent
Marshalls (Black) v KAAF

The quarterfinals roster for this year’s Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship is gradually taking shape.

Marshalls University College is the latest institution to progress from the zonal stage after topping Zone 3 on Saturday, March 16 at the Regent University College of Science and Technology.

Marshalls beat Regent 34-28 in the opening game and sealed its qualification with a 30-22 win over KAAF University College.

KAAF lost 24-29 to Regent in overtime to miss out on a win while first time host Regent placed second in the zone thanks to the five point win over KAAF.

In both wins, Marshalls fought back from losing positions in the early sections of the fixtures including a 4-12 first quarter deficit against Regent.

Marshalls had strong second half performances to take the games’ lead and power on to victory. Guards Emmanuel Sarkor and Captain Anthony Adade were very impressive.

Coach James Okine also deployed experience Shooting Guard David Okoe Laryea as a Sixth Man off the bench who stepped in swing momentum to his team with big three point shots.

Koforidua Technical University and Takoradi Technical University progressed from Zones 1 and 2 respectively. The 2019 UPAC is sponsored by CAL Bank and MTN.
