Catholic University College, Ghana (CUCG) Saints preparations towards this year’s Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship hit a snag over the weekend.

The team lost in Round 10 of the 2018-2019 GSP Basketball League 43-50 to Suncity Braves at the Sunyani Technical University (STU) Court.

Braves are the defending league champions and improved its record to nine wins in ten games while CUCG dropped to two wins in eight games.

Catholic University Forward Harry Gauther was super in the game dropping 20 points and 21 rebounds with three assists, three blocks and two steals. Teammate Michael Adu added ten points in the loss.

The Saints are scheduled to play in Zone 4 of this year’s UPAC on Friday, March 22 at the same venue alongside the host institution, University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) and Kintampo College of Health.

Winner of the zone qualifies to the quarterfinals; CUCG is yet to progress beyond the zonal stage after making its debut in 2016. This year’s UPAC Championship is sponsored by CAL Bank and MTN.
