Christian Service University set for UPAC Return

Christian Service University College is set to return to compete in the Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship qualifiers.

The Kumasi based institution has not featured in Ghana’s biggest tertiary hoops competition since playing in the 2016 edition.

However, that streak is set to end later this weekend when Christian Service lines up to battle for a spot in the 2019 UPAC Quarterfinals.

The Zone 5 qualifiers take place at Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) Court on Saturday, March 23 with the Host, Christian Service and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) set to battle for the sole qualification spot.

Christian Service has not progressed beyond the zonal stage; KNUST has dominated the zone since the maiden UPAC edition in 2011.

Last year’s qualifiers had KsTU, KNUST and Garden City University College compete and was won by KNUST. Kwame Nkrumah University finished second to Accra Technical University in the 2015 National Final.

Christian Service has a big task to overcome to clinch its maiden UPAC quarterfinals ticket. This year’s UPAC is sponsored by CAL Bank and MTN.
