The ongoing 2019 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship qualifiers are close to the midpoint stage with three institutions securing quarterfinal spots.

This weekend will have the qualifiers cross the midpoint with games in Zones 4 and 5 set to be played in Sunyani and Kumasi respectively.

In Zone 4, Sunyani Technical University (STU) will host University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR), Catholic University College, Ghana (CUCG) and Kintampo College of Health.

The games are to be played on Friday, March 22 at the STU Court. Stu held the qualifiers last year and rode on the back of a partisan crowd to secure its first quarterfinal appearance since 2011.

On Saturday, March 23, Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) will host Zone 5 games with Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and Christian Service University College competing.

Unlike Zone 4, KsTU has hosted the qualifiers since 2016 but have not progressed to the quarterfinals with KNUST dominating the zone.

Koforidua Technical University, Takoradi Technical University and Marshalls University College won Zones 1, 2 and 3 respectively. This year’s UPAC is sponsored by CAL Bank and MTN.
