Aflakpui, Temple University crashes out of NCAA Tournament

Ghana and Temple University Power Forward Ernest Aflakpui’s run in this year’s Men’s College Basketball postseason has come to an end.

Temple University’s 70-81 loss to Belmont University signaled the end of Aflkpui’s stint with The Owls as Belmont progresses to play University of Maryland on Thursday, March 21.

As a final year student majoring in Marketing, the elimination is the final time 6 foot 10 inch Aflakpui plays in the National Collegiate Athletic Association and is set to turn professional upon graduation later this year.

In what turned out to be his final game in College, Aflakpui scored seven points and grabbed nine rebounds in 18 minutes as a starter.

This represents a significant drop from his standout production in the Conference loss to Wichita State where Aflakpui recorded a 16 point, 19 rebound double double.

The loss also marks the end of Fran Durphy’s reign as Temple University Coach. He served as the lead Technical man for 13 years.

Shawn Alston Jnr. led Temple in points with 21.
