Sunyani Technical University (STU) will host Zone 4 qualifiers in this year’s Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship on Friday, March 22.

The Host institution is to do battle against University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR), Catholic University College and Kintampo College of Health for a spot in the quarterfinals of the 2019 edition.

Only zonal winners qualify from the preliminary stage to the knockout phase to be played out in Ghana’s capital, Accra from April 11-13.

For STU Coach and former head trainer of UENR Andrew Quansah, this weekend’s competition offers an opportunity to extend his streak of qualifying teams under his watch to the quarterfinals.

In 2016 and 2017, UENR topped the zone and featured in the Championship knockout games. A year later he switched camp and joined STU.

In his first year, he led the team to make its first quarterfinals since doing so in the maiden edition of UPAC in 2011. A fourth straight qualification is on the cards for the young highly regarded tactician Quansah.
