C4 wins first all Tema Showdown against Heat

Heat (white) v C4
The first clash involving Tema teams in this year’s Tema Community Basketball League took place at the Tema Community 4 Court this past weekend.

The clash was one of four fixtures that marked the opening round of the 2019 league season including one involving defending champions Nungua Coldstore.

Former league winners Community 4 clinched a 42-33 win over Heat who placed second in last year’s league competition.

C4 led 16-10 at the end of the first quarter scoring majority of their points from three point range. Guard Kent Fosu scored a couple with Forward Muhaimin Guba adding a pair of jump shots.

Fred Yeboah scored early in the second quarter and Benjamin Debrah completed a three point shot to reduce Heat’s deficit to two (16-21).

Center Mustapha Ahmed scored during Heat’s big run. A beautiful interchange of passes got C4 Guard Abu open for an easy layup. A tough turnaround jumper from Guba gave C4 a 23-18 second quarter lead.

Third quarter ended 32-22 with C4 leading. Heat started strong in the final quarter closing the deficit to four (28-32) but missed the chance to close further after a fancy play backfired.

Guba got his side back with a three point shot and a jumper with teammate Fosu adding another shot from deep to seal the win.
