The protest was lodged after STU suffered a 27-33 loss to Catholic University in the recently completed Zone 4 of the 2019 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship.
STU hosted the zonal qualifiers of Ghana’s biggest tertiary basketball competition on Friday, March 22 with Kintampo College of Health also competing.
The crunch between the two institutions had a lot at stake with the winning team progressing to the quarterfinals of this year’s competition.
By securing the win, Catholic progressed to the knockout phase of the UPAC Championship for the first time. The knockout phase takes place in Accra from April 11-13.
Both teams clinched wins over Kintampo College with STU clinching a 42-20 win while Catholic University secured a 38-16 victory.
Reports gathered by Basketballghana.com indicate a ruling is expected later this week after investigations are concluded. STU and University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) have represented the zone in previous editions.
