STU (blue) missed out on topping the Zone to Catholic.
Parties involved in Sunyani Technical University’s (STU) protest against Catholic University College, Ghana are anxious about the final decision per reports gathered by Basketballghana.com

STU filed a protest against Catholic University over the use of ineligible players in Zone 4 qualifying games in the 2019 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship.

Sunyani Technical made the move in the aftermath of losing 27-33 to Catholic University in the final game of the zonal competition.

The loss on Friday, March 22 at STU prevented the host from progressing to the quarterfinals of this year’s UPAC Championship.

However, over a week has passed with no official communication from the technical committee of Ghana’s biggest tertiary basketball competition and the parties involved are reported to be frustrated by the long wait.

In the meantime, Catholic University is the Zonal Champion and will compete in the quarterfinals on April 11 and 12 at the University of Ghana in Ghana’s capital, Accra. Semifinal games and the final game take place on April 13.

This year’s UPAC Championship is sponsored by CAL Bank and MTN.
