Accra Technical University (ATU) Coach Lawal Brimah has opined the optimum importance of making it to the 2019 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship.

He expressed this in an interview with Basketballghana.com in the aftermath of leading ATU to top Zone 6 in the preliminary stage in this year’s competition.

By winning Zone 6, ATU has qualified to the quarterfinals of this year’s competition. This is set to be ATU’s sixth quarterfinal appearance in six editions of Ghana’s biggest tertiary basketball tournament.

Accra Technical is a two time winner of the UPAC Championship but missed out on winning a third title following two losses in the 2016 and 2018 finals.

“Definitely we have to fight to the final…we have lost I think three finals but this time we have a good team and this time around I know we are going to do better” he said.

ATU beat Methodist University College 53-11 and Kings University College 32-13 in the zone to progress. The quarterfinal games are scheduled for April 11 and 12. The semifinals and final games are set for April 13.

This year’s UPAC Championship is sponsored by CAL Bank and MTN.
