Mali Center Oumar Ballo has expressed his delight about Mali’s progress to the Final game of the 2019 FIBA Under 19 World Cup in Greece.

He opined this in an interview with FIBA as the West African nation prepares to play in the final game against Team USA. This is the first time an African country has made it to the Finals.

The 17 year old Center delivered an MVP performance in Mali’s 76-73 win over France in the semifinals producing 17 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks.

“We have come a long way, a really long way. Nobody believed in us. But we did, our country believed in us. The rest, nobody else. Now is the time to prove everyone wrong. This is the first time in our history and all the other nations will support us tomorrow. We are really proud of that. We as Africans proved to everyone that we can play good” he said.

Ballo and Point Guard Siriman Kanoute have led the Malians to a surprise final that has them taking on the multiple time winners tonight.
