Nigeria has clinched its third straight win in the ongoing FIBA Basketball World Cup thanks to an 86-73 win over host nation China.

The 2015 African Champions have been in great form after a slow start to the competition which is due to end on Sunday, September 15.

Nigeria lost its opening games against Russia and Argentina; D’Tigers lost 77-82 to Russia and 81-94 to Argentina in Group B’s opening games.

However, a 108-66 win over South Korea in the final group marked the turning point in the West African nation’s campaign as the team has gone on to win two more games and seal its place in the 2020 Olympics Basketball Tournament.

In the classification round of games to determine teams final placement from 17 to 32, Nigeria beat Ivory Coast 83-66 in one of two clashes in the round that has African teams facing off.

Minnesota Timberwolves Josh Okogie was instrumental in the win over China scoring 19 points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals.
