UG withdraws from CAP7 Basketball Tournament

University of Ghana (UG) Men’s Basketball Team has withdrawn from the CAP7 Memorial Basketball Tournament Basketballghana.com can confirm.

The news broke earlier today with the Tournament’s official page on Facebook stating the tertiary institution won’t participate in the competition.

The 2019 CAP7 Tournament runs from Wednesday, September 18 to Saturday, September 21 at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu.

UG was scheduled to feature in the tournament against defending champions Adenta Leopards and teams like Tema Youth and DUNK Knights.

However, the team representing Ghana’s first University decided to pull out of the tournament and has immediately been replaced by Kawukudi Warriors.

UG has been in fine form in its debut season in the Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division II losing just a game in 11 outings to lead the standings.

Fellow ABL Division II side Warriors competed in last year’s edition and finished in second place behind Leopards but has generally struggled this season in the league.

Ghana Police Service are defending Women’s Division champions.
