Braves Guard Patrick Gameli in action at the 2017 Africa Club Championship

Ghana side Braves of Customs will play against Benin side ASPAC tonight at the Hall Des Arts Leisure and Sports in Cotonou, Benin in its Basketball Africa League (BAL) opening game.

The game is due to tip off at 16:00 GMT and is the first in Group B in the preliminary round of qualification for the Elite 16 stage.

Braves and four other teams from the West African sub region are competing for the chance to qualify to the next stage of the NBA-FIBA Africa backed tournament.

The top ranked teams progress from the group and tonight’s game is the first of three for Braves to punch its ticket to the next phase.

Customs and ASPAC have faced off previously in the 2017 FIBA Africa Club Championship Zone 3 qualifiers; Braves won 75-61.

The Ghanaian team plays Pythons from Liberia, Nigelec from Liberia and Abidjan Basket from Ivory Coast on October 30 and 31 and November 2 respectively.

This is the maiden edition of the BAL.
