Abubakar

Braves of Customs Center Suleman Abubakar has been named Most Valuable Player in the Men’s Division of the 2019 Accra Basketball League (ABL).

Abubakar won the award helping Customs retain the league title; the league trophy has since named after former ABL Chairman Benjamin Baafi.

Braves beat Adenta Leopards 60-56 in Game 3 of this season’s playoff finals series to cap off a sterling comeback after losing Game One to Leopards.

In the league decider, Abubakar led the way with trademark blocks and drained jump shots in two straight possessions to give Braves a 44-42 third quarter lead in the contest.

The highly rated defender averaged 3.3 blocks per game this season; his absence is viewed as a major reason behind Braves failure to make the Elite 16 stage of the Basketball Africa League (BAL) qualifiers.

After helping Braves end the season with just a loss in 20 games, Abubakar also walked away with a 200 Ghana Cedis Cash Prize.
