The 2020 Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) to be hosted by University of Ghana (UG) is exactly two weeks away from commencement.

The biannual competition is exactly a fortnight away from commencing at UG’s Sports Stadium on the institution’s Legon Campus in Ghana’s capital, Accra.

Next year’s multi sport competition runs from January 3 to January 19 with 11 public universities competing; the number of participating schools is the highest in the history of the competition following the inclusion of Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) and Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ).

In the lead up to the competition, host UG organized a session to train volunteers; this is the first time UG is hosting the GUSA Games in a decade.

The host institution aims to seal top spot in the competition but is a strong contender in the Men’s Basketball category where it has dominated since 2016 winning gold. UG’s Men’s and Women’s Teams competed in the Accra Basketball League in preparation.

Other disciplines athletes will compete in at the competition include tennis, table tennis and badminton.
