Nathan Mensah

San Diego State University Men’s Basketball Coach Brian Dutcher has indicated willingness to run more plays through Ghanaian youngster Nathan Mensah.

Dutcher made the statement in practice recently ahead of the Aztecs 92-48 win over San Diego Christian University for its 11th win of the season in 11 games.

According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, Dutcher indicated his interior men including Mensah are likely to see more touches the rest of the season.

“I want a few more plays that get the ball inside to Yanni (Wetzell) and Nate (Mensah). We’ve proven effective when we do get the ball in there, their willingness to throw it out can create more dangerous offensive opportunities for us” Dutcher said.

Mensah scored all three attempted field goals against San Diego Christian for seven points, two blocks, two steals and five rebounds in 18 minutes as the starting Center.

Nathan Mensah is averaging 8.6 rebounds and 7.2 points in 20.2 minutes this season. Fellow Ghanaian Joel Mensah is nursing an ankle sprain and didn’t feature in the win over San Diego Christian.
