Opoku Ware School (OWASS) has recovered from a slow start to beat debutant St. Paul’s Senior High School at the 2020 Sprite Ball Championship taking place at the El Wak Stadium in Accra.

OWASS beat St. Paul’s 30-27 after suffering a 6-16 first half loss in Group B’s opening game in the Boys Division.

The game tilted towards the shock result in Group A’s opener where Keta Business College beat Mfantsipim School 32-24.

However, Opoku Ware mounted a spirited comeback led by Point Guard Nicholas Essien who starred in the 2019 Bronze medal winning team.

He got immense help from Guards Kankam Akenteng’s marksmanship from three point range and ball playing skills from Kwame Yeboah.

Opoku Ware won the December 2016 edition and got off to a poor start struggling to deal with the size of St. Paul’s who are playing for the first time in the competition.

St. Paul’s play St. John’s School next in a must win for the former.
