Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) blew a big lead in its close to University of Ghana (UG) earlier this morning and has given University of Cape Coast (UCC) hope to win the 2020 Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) Games.

KNUST led 32-19 at half time but ended up losing 53-54 to UG; the loss is KNUST’s second in the tournament in nine games.

The loss means wins for UCC over University of Education-Winneba (UEW) tonight at 17:00 GMT and UG on Friday, January 17 at 17:00 GMT gives the former the gold medal.

UCC lost to KNUST and a win over UEW and UG gives the team a head to head advantage over the latter two who are in contention for the gold medal.

UG are two time defending champions after winning gold at the 2016 and 2018 editions. UCC beat University of Mines and Technology (UMaT) 81-33 while UEW lost 45-61 to UG in the build up to tonight’s contest.
