Nathan Mensah

Ghana and San Diego State University Forward/Center Nathan Mensah has missed seven straight games for the Aztecs due to a respiratory illness.

Basketballghana.com understands the reason behind his absence is due to a pulmonary embolism blood clot that caused the second year player problems when breathing.

Despite his absence, San Diego have continued to win games and recently matched its best ever mark of 20 wins to open the season; the mark tied the 2010-2011 group led by Los Angeles Clippers star Kawhi Leonard.

According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, Mensah has an “outside chance” of playing this season; fellow Ghanaian Forward Joel Mensah has battled back spasms in recent games.

In just five games played this season, Mensah has averaged 7.2 points and 8.6 rebounds in 20.2 minutes per game; he has five blocks during this span of games.

After contributing 5.6 points and 5.5 rebounds in his first year, Mensah was expected to improve his production as he got more comfortable in Coach Brian Dutcher’s scheme.
