In January, UG hosted the Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) Games and is set to host the Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship later in April. gathers the University will host the Private Universities Sports Association Games (PUSAG) in latter March and early April.

UG’s facilities particularly its pair of basketball courts are a major attraction to prospective organizers; the facilities were upgraded ahead of the GUSA Games with lights provided at the venue.
