Radford University College Basketball Head Coach Albert Ato Sam has delivered on his promise to win Zone One of the 2020 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship.

The Legon based institution topped the Zone after bagging two wins in as many games played at the Pope John Senior High School over this past weekend in Koforidua.

Radford beat Koforidua Technical University 43-25 in the opening game and beat All Nations University College 46-31 in the deciding game to clinch the zonal title.

It was Radford’s first time competing in the zone after playing in Zone 7 in the 2018 and 2019 editions held in Ghana’s capital, Accra.

Prior to the start of the competition, Coach Sam stated his team will win the zonal title and progress to the national stage which runs from April 16-18 in Accra.

Radford made the switch to avoid scheduling conflict due to its involvement in another competition later this month. This is the team’s second qualification in a row to the national stage.

The 2020 UPAC is sponsored by CAL Bank, MTN and Decathlon Ghana.
