The ban on social gatherings in Ghana due to the corona virus pandemic has affected a host of competitions in the West African nation.
Teams featuring in such competitions have been affected by the pandemic that has forced authorities to suspend all games in the nation.
One of such teams is Takoradi Technical University (TTU) Oilers whose strong form in the 2020 season was bound to have the team make deeper runs in multiple competitions.
In the Western Basketball Association League, the Oilers were in the hunt for a title in the inaugural season; the league has been suspended until further notice with two rounds of games to play.
The team was in form heading to the national stage of this year’s Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship after qualifying as Zone Two Champions.
TTU beat University of Cape Coast (UCC) and University of Mines and Technology (UMaT) to successfully defend the zonal title.
The ban is set to end on May 31; the corona virus has infected over 5,900 people in Ghana.
