FIBA Africa Executive Director Alphonse Bile has eyes on the Basketball Africa League (BAL) setting major marks on the African sporting scene following his remarks in a recent interview.
During his chat with BAL Hang Time- a dedicated program to the continental competition-the veteran basketball administrator expressed those lofty ambitions.
His comments come at a time the competition continues to wait out the effects of the corona virus pandemic; the spread of the virus prevented the league from commencing earlier in March this year.
However, Bile believes when the competition commence, it would become the best in Africa stating “in a more concrete terms, in a few years, I see the BAL as the strongest competition in Africa. All sports combined.”
The BAL is a partnership between Africa’s basketball governing body FIBA Africa and the world’s best basketball league-the NBA and 12 teams representing various countries on the continent.
Some of the best clubs in Africa will battle it out in cities including Dakar and Kigali for the title.
