RITE Sports Limited Chief Executive Officer Yaw Sakyi Afari has stated Kyrie Irving’s donation to winners of the Sprite Ball Championship will inspire the young players to be great like the Brooklyn Nets star.
He made this statement in an exclusive interview with Basketballghana.com in the aftermath of Irving’s donation to Mfantsipim School and Shama Senior High School for excelling at the 2019-2020 edition of Ghana’s biggest High School Basketball Tournament.
Irving promised to give away sneakers to the players of the respective schools (12 per school) after the tournament concluded and earlier this week, the “NIKE Kyrie Five” sneakers were delivered.
After praising the 2016 NBA Champion for honouring his word, Afari pointed out the inspirational effect of the gesture and added:
“We (RITE Sports) believe these sneakers will inspire these young ones to be great like yourself. Thank You and God bless you.”
Aside winning the NBA Championship, Irving has won the Olympics and Basketball World Cup with the US.
