Coach Ato Sam

Basketballghana.com can report Radford University College Basketball Coach Albert Ato Sam has dedicated his team’s title win at the 2020 UPAC Basketball Championship to his late wife who passed away earlier this year.

He made the dedication in an exclusive interview with Ghana’s leading basketball portal in the aftermath of leading Radford to its debut UPAC title.

Radford won the special edition of this year’s Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship thanks to a 58-46 win over Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in the final game.

An emotional Coach Sam shed tears and was comforted by his players after the final whistle before stating “I’d like to dedicate this title to my late wife who was with me when we started this journey”.

To clinch its first ever title at Ghana’s biggest tertiary basketball tournament, Radford had to overcome a seven point lead in the first quarter and Guard Lawal Toyin’s big shots from deep ensured that. Toyin was later named MVP of the Tournament.
